On Tuesday, Governor Brian P. Kemp signed Senate Bill 333, a piece of legislation that would allow for a local referendum on the creation of the city of Mulberry in Gwinnett County. House Majority Leader Chuck Efstration and Senator Clint Dixon expressed their satisfaction with the signing of the bill.

Leader Efstration expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity for residents in northeast Gwinnett to have more control over planning and zoning decisions. He stated, "I am very pleased that the governor signed SB 333. This is an exciting opportunity for residents in northeast Gwinnett to gain local control over planning and zoning decisions without imposing a city property tax. As a resident of this proposed city, I have been an enthusiastic supporter of the cityhood effort and plan to remain involved in expressing support for Mulberry when it appears on the ballot."

Senator Dixon also expressed his gratitude for the swift passage of SB 333 and highlighted the impact it would have on his constituents in the 45th Senate District. He said, "SB 333 will greatly impact my constituents of the 45th Senate District, who have been negatively affected by zoning issues in our area. I am confident that the incorporation of the City of Mulberry will return power and local control to the citizens of Gwinnett County. Again, I would like to extend my thanks to House Majority Leader Chuck Efstration for his continuous support and work on this measure. I look forward to putting this initiative before my constituents in the coming months."

Representative Chuck Efstration represents District 104, which includes portions of Barrow and Gwinnett counties. He has been serving as the House Majority Leader and is involved in various committees, including the Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation and the Code Revision, Ethics, Insurance, Judiciary, Judiciary Non-Civil, Juvenile Justice, and Reapportionment and Redistricting committees. He is also an Ex-Officio member of the Rules Committee.

Senator Clint Dixon serves as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Education and Youth. He represents the 45th Senate District, which includes parts of Gwinnett and Barrow Counties. He can be reached at 404.656.6446 or via email at clint.dixon@senate.ga.gov.

With the signing of SB 333, the residents of Mulberry are one step closer to having their own city. The legislation provides an opportunity for local control and addresses zoning issues that have negatively affected the area. The proposed city of Mulberry will now appear on the ballot, and the constituents of Gwinnett County will have the chance to decide on its incorporation.
