Gwinnett Chamber’s annual Washington D.C. Fly-In, sponsored by Jackson EMC, brought thirty business and community leaders from Gwinnett to the nation’s capital. The event provided insights into national economic trends, with a focus on tariffs and taxes. Discussions with lawmakers and US Chamber representatives highlighted the immediate and long-term effects of tax and tariff uncertainty on businesses.
Business leaders expressed concerns about the impact of tariffs on their growth and hiring capabilities. The Gwinnett Chamber urged congressional delegation members to collaborate with the administration to promote policies that encourage innovation, investment, and job creation. With over five hundred international businesses, Gwinnett aims to be a key partner in strengthening Georgia’s business climate.
The Chamber also called for support in extending the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and preserving the state and local business tax deduction (B-SALT deduction), which is considered a pro-growth policy saving American businesses over $600 billion.
Gwinnett’s representation includes U.S. Senators Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, along with Congressmen Hank Johnson (GA-04), Andrew Clyde (GA-09), Mike Collins (GA-10), and David Scott (GA-13).
