The Georgia Department of Education reported that Dacula Elementary School had 354 Hispanic students enrolled in the 2024-25 school year, marking an increase of 3.2% from the prior year.
Total enrollment at Dacula Elementary reached 1,143 for 2024-25. Hispanic students represented 31% of the overall student body, making them the second-largest group there.
The school is part of Gwinnett County School District, whose central office is located in Lawrenceville.
Across the district’s 140 schools, Berkmar High School posted the highest Hispanic student enrollment for the 2024-25 school year, with 2,072 students.
According to the National Center for Education Statistics, Georgia public schools’ student population included approximately 36.4% Black, 35.9% white, 18.1% Hispanic, 4% Asian, 4.6% multiracial, 0.2% American Indian or Alaska Native, and 0.1% Pacific Islander.
Chronic absenteeism has stayed a major concern across Georgia’s public schools after the pandemic, with 20.7% of students missing at least 10% of school days in 2024, Georgia Department of Education data showed. To address this, GaDOE introduced a new initiative featuring a real-time attendance dashboard, a publicity campaign, and added support for high-need districts to promote consistent attendance.
In 2025, state lawmakers approved a change to Georgia’s attendance law forbidding expulsions solely based on absenteeism. The updated statute includes revised reporting requirements and supports programs, allowing students alternate options for diploma completion.
Data from 2026 show that Georgia’s average student-to-teacher ratio stood around 14:1, which is stronger than the national 15:1 average.
