Reports by the Georgia Department of Education indicated that Mountain View High School enrolled 721 Hispanic students for the 2024-25 school year, representing a 6.5% increase from the prior year.
According to the data, total enrollment at Mountain View High School was 2,186 students in the 2024-25 school year, with Hispanic students comprising 33% of the student body, the school’s largest demographic group.
The school is part of Gwinnett County School District, which has its administrative office in Lawrenceville.
Of Gwinnett County School District’s 140 schools, Berkmar High School reported the highest Hispanic student enrollment for 2024-25, totaling 2,072 students.
The National Center for Education Statistics reported that public school students in Georgia were about 36.4% Black, 35.9% white, 18.1% Hispanic, 4% Asian, 4.6% multiracial, 0.2% American Indian or Alaska Native, and 0.1% Pacific Islander.
Chronic absenteeism continues to challenge Georgia schools following the pandemic. In 2024, 20.7% of students missed at least 10% of school days, according to the Georgia Department of Education. In an effort to address attendance, GaDOE started a statewide initiative with measures such as a real-time attendance dashboard, outreach campaigns, and district-level support for schools with high needs.
Lawmakers in Georgia approved a bill in 2025 to update attendance policies: schools can no longer expel students solely due to absenteeism. The legislative update also extends new reporting mandates and supports alternative diploma paths.
As of 2026, Georgia reported an average student-to-teacher ratio of roughly 14:1, a figure under the national average of 15:1.
