During the 2024-25 school year, Northbrook Middle School reported an enrollment of 46 multiracial students, matching the amount from the prior year, according to the Georgia Department of Education.
The data revealed the school’s total enrollment was 939 students for 2024-25. Multiracial students made up 5% of the population, making them the school’s smallest group.
Northbrook Middle School is part of the Gwinnett County School District, which has its central office in Lawrenceville.
Brookwood High School, one of 140 schools within the same district, had the highest number of multiracial enrollees with 187 for the 2024-25 school year.
According to the Georgia Department of Education’s Fiscal Year 2026-1 report, more than 1.7 million students enrolled in Georgia’s public schools. Enrollment was highest at the elementary level with 787,206 students (45.9%), while middle schools had 388,733 (22.7%) and high schools had 539,092 (31.4%).
Chronic absenteeism continues to challenge Georgia schools after the pandemic, with 20.7% of students missing at least 10% of school days in 2024, based on Georgia Department of Education data. To address this, GaDOE introduced a statewide campaign that features a real-time attendance dashboard, a public awareness program, and support for high-need districts to increase attendance rates.
In 2025, the Georgia legislature approved a bill revising school attendance laws to prohibit expulsion solely for absenteeism. It also set out new reporting guidelines and supports programs where students can earn diplomas through alternative options.
By 2026, Georgia’s average student-to-teacher ratio was about 14:1, which is better than the national average of 15:1.
