Gwinnett Chamber to honor Nash as Citizen of the Year

The Gwinnett Chamber will honor Charlotte J. Nash, former chairman of the Gwinnett Board of Commissioners, as its 2020 Citizen of the Year at its 73rd annual dinner on Aug. 6. 

The chamber announced the community’s servants, organizations and corporate citizens from the county who will be honored at the dinner at the Gas South Convention Center in Duluth, presented by Northside Hospital.

In addition to the 2020 Citizen of the Year Award that honors those whose efforts have impacted the quality of life in Gwinnett County, the chamber will recognize four individuals for their service to the community with Public Service Awards, the release said..

Recipients include Dr. Audrey Arona, MD, Gwinnett County Health Department; Randy Dellinger, Gwinnett district manager, Jackson Electric Membership Corp.; Marlene M. Fosque, a commissioner on the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners; and Nancy Ward, executive director of the Gwinnett Student Leadership Team, the chamber said.

The chamber will recognize Community Sustainability Enterprise with the D. Scott Hudgens Humanitarian Award. This award was named for Scott Hudgens, a developer and philanthropist, the release said. 

The memory and legacy of Dennis Billew and J. Terry Gordon will be honored with the award of the R. Wayne Schackelford Legacy Award for making a difference in Gwinnett County. Dennis Billew and J. Terry Gordon will receive the posthumous recognition, the release said 

OFS, a global company that chose to locate in Gwinnett County, will receive the James J. Maran International Award, the chamber said.
