What's new?

GCT's Executive Ride this month

Attention local business employers, community developers, real estate developers, and leaders in economic development: Save the Date for Gwinnett County Transit's Executive Ride on Friday, September 24 from 10:00am to 1:00pm!

GCT is teaming up with the Office of Economic Development and Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce for this event to discuss our current state of public transit and future plans for transit growth in the County. Plus, we’ll talk about how public transit can be used as an incentive for those that use it (i.e. Georgia Commute Options will be in attendance, with GCO discussing their reward programs for commuters using alternative transportation and how companies can start their own incentive programs).

Other main highlights that will be discussed are how public transit can relieve the stress of driving alone, decrease wear and tear on drivers’ vehicles, save money on gas, and help our essential workers get to their jobs — just a few of the many ways public transit stimulates the economy.

To RSVP for the executive event, please email Destiny.O'Loughlin@GwinnettCounty.com.

Face coverings still required on buses

While the mandate signed by Gwinnett County Chairwoman Nicole L. Hendrickson states that masks are no longer required in County facilities, GCT passengers are required to wear a face mask on all buses through January 18, 2022. This is in accordance with TSA and CDC guidance for travelers using public transit.

If you have any questions about this requirement, call GCT Customer Service at 770.822.5010.

Labor Day service

In observance of Labor Day, Gwinnett County Transit will not be running local, commuter, or paratransit service on Monday, September 6.

Updates to COVID-19 seating restrictions

Effective August 23, Gwinnett County Transit's passenger limits will increase on both local and commuter buses. Passengers are permitted to occupy all seating on GCT local buses, with standing not allowed.

If you would like to learn more about GCT's passenger capacity restrictions, please give GCT Customer Service a call at 770.822.5010.

Token Transit mobile ticketing pilot continues

Using your smartphone, you can now buy your GCT ticket in the Token Transit App. Once purchased, bring your phone to the electronic reader by the farebox to complete the transaction, and you are all set to ride. This program is also available on Xpress.

The regional, contactless program enables riders to pay their bus fare in all of metro Atlanta. This safe, secure payment option reduces contact between GCT riders, drivers, and surfaces during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The Token Transit App is free and can be downloaded from the App Store and Google Play.

Transdev is hiring!

Transdev, Gwinnett County Transit's contractor, is offering a $1,500 sign-on bonus for new bus drivers holding a Commercial Driver's License. They are also hiring drivers working to get a CDL.

Transdev provides paid training, health benefits, paid time off and holidays, and pays $15.60 per hour with annual increases that lead to $24 per hour after four years.
