The athletic director of Atlanta Public Schools used Falcons player Richie Grant to inspire rookies at the annual Rookie Club Dinner.

Jasper Jewell told a story about safety Richie Grant at the Rookie Club Dinner to help inspire rookies to give back to the community, according to a team news release

Jewell was one of the final speakers at the dinner, and he talked about how important it is for the student-athletes of Atlanta when the Falcons come around.

Jewell and Grant had met earlier this year through a mutual friend while training at Walden Athletic Complex, according to the release. Jewell said the encounter with Grant went so well, he later told his student-athletes about it, and Jewell said the kids went crazy over the fact Grant had trained at their facility.

"I didn't expect that at all," Grant said, according to a press release. "It really hits you that you can impact kids, just by being you, by representing that Falcons logo. But they also knew my name and so much about me, which was a reminder of just how many people watch what we do."

Grant said that hearing Jewell's story made him think about how he had to get back to his hometown and in front of kids to start working with them.
