The Atlanta Braves named Erin McCormick as vice president and general manager of the Gwinnett Stripers, making history with the first woman named as a GM for an Atlanta minor league affiliate.

McCormick, one of four women serving as general managers at the Triple-A level, replaced Adam English, the Stripers said in a news release. English moved to become the chief operating officer and general manager of the Nashville Sounds, a Milwaukee Brewers minor league affiliate.

“I am excited to serve as the general manager for one of the best Minor League Baseball organizations in the country. I fell in love with this business 15 years ago and to be able to represent the team, employees, partners and our community in such a way is a huge honor,” McCormick said in the Stripers release.

In her first season with the team in 2019, McCormick was credited with helping increase attendance over the previous year for the first time since 2011, the Stripers reported.

McCormick had been the Stripers’ assistant general manager for the past three years. She worked with English on every aspect of club operations. She directly oversaw advertising, sponsorship implementation, ballpark entertainment, digital and social media, media relations, community relations and merchandise.

McCormick will start her 15th season in Minor League Baseball in 2022.
