'Can we get a Nell Yeah?': Atlanta Gladiators' Nell named ECHL Goaltender of the Week

Atlanta Gladiator Chris Nell, 27, earned the title of Warrior Hockey East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) Goaltender of the Week for the week of Jan. 24-30.

Throughout the 14 games Nell has played this season, he has recorded a 3.24 goals-against average (GAA) and a 0.893 save percentage, the ECHL reported in a press release.

"Can we get a Nell Yeah?! Chris Nell has been named the @ECHL Goaltender of the Week," Gladiators officials said in a Twitter post on Feb. 1.

In his two winning games against the Jacksonville Icemen on the week he earned his title, Nell recorded a 1.0 GAA with an overall 0.965 save percentage, the ECHL reported. He also led a shutout, stopping all 28 shots in a 1-0 victory.

During his time in the ECHL, Nell has appeared in 94 games with a record of 37-47-5. He boasts a save percentage of 0.894 and has contributed to four shutouts. He has also played 31 career American Hockey League games with the Tucson Roadrunners and the Hartford Wolf Pack. Before playing professionally, Nell appeared in 84 career games for the Bowling Green State University Falcons.
