Atlanta Braves legend and MLB Hall of Famer Chipper Jones is being denied access to spring training, at least for now.
The Braves require all staff members to be vaccinated against COVID-19, and since Jones hasn’t received even one dose of the vaccine, he will be unable to attend spring training this season, according to a report by Call to the Pen.
Jones, who was an analyst for ESPN in 2020, is entering his second season as a hitting consultant for the Braves, the report stated.
"Hall of Famer Chipper Jones, a #Braves hitting consultant last year will not be at spring training … because all staff members are required to be vaccinated," David O'Brien, a writer for the Athletic, said in a tweet March 12.
While he may still consult with players virtually, Jones will be unable to do so in person until the mandate is lifted or he gets vaccinated.
