The theft of two trailers which were being used for an upcoming production of “The Nutcracker” has left a Gwinnett County, Georgia, ballet company at least $20,000 in the hole.
Jennifer Gordon, artistic director of Northeast Atlanta Ballet, told Fox 5 Atlanta the theft of the trailers is scary.
“You come around here; you can see where they cut through our fence,” Gordon said. “This is a really steep hill, so it wasn’t an easy job for sure, but you can see it’s a pretty large hole, and they parked at the bottom."
Thieves were captured on surveillance video forcing their way onto the property and quickly taking off with trailers filled with thousands of dollars’ worth of goods needed to put on “The Nutcracker” production, Fox 5 reported.
Gordon said the incident is a first for her, adding that props, costumes, a backdrop, and thousands of dollars’ worth of furniture were also taken.
Gwinnett County Police found the trailers in a church parking lot with all their contents spilled across a nearby field, according to Fox 5.
