Brookwood High School's Advanced Placement History teacher, Jim Reason, has been recognized as the 2023-2024 Outstanding Teacher of American History by the Georgia State Society, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). This award acknowledges teachers from grades 5 to 12 who have shown excellence in teaching and promoting American history and related subjects.

Brookwood High Principal Dr. Brett Savage praised Reason's contributions. "This is Mr. Reason’s first year on the team at Brookwood High School, and he has very quickly made a positive impact on our students," said Dr. Savage. "Not only does he have a wealth of knowledge in his subject area, but he loves the students in his class and the athletes he coaches. His welcoming and supportive spirit make him a huge asset in supporting and challenging our students. Mr. Reason is a tremendous teacher and deserves this recognition."

Every year, over 3,000 DAR Chapters across the nation select an Outstanding Teacher of American History within their communities. Reason was selected from a group of nominees representing DAR chapters throughout Georgia.
