A group of students from McClure Health Science High School were recently honored at Piedmont Eastside Medical Center in Snellville, Georgia, for completing an internship program. This initiative marks the beginning of a partnership between McClure Health Science High School and Piedmont Eastside Medical Center, aimed at supporting aspiring healthcare professionals in Gwinnett County.

The program included ten juniors and seniors who gained practical experience across various hospital units such as medical-surgical floors, laboratory, phlebotomy, emergency department, and Health Information Management department.

Nicole Mosley, Principal of McClure Health Science High School, highlighted the impact of this collaboration on students' professional development. "We take immense pride in the accomplishments of our staff, students, and families who have contributed to the strong partnership between Piedmont Hospital, Eastside, and McClure Health Science High School," Mosley stated. "Our collaboration is an excellent example of our mission to advance the meaning and purpose in each student’s life by providing relevant college and career pathways opportunities."

During their six-week internship, students engaged in various healthcare tasks including blood work techniques and shadowing clinical staff. This experience was designed to complement their academic learning while offering insight into real-world healthcare environments. The partnership aims to bridge education with practical application by providing valuable opportunities for both students and the hospital.
