Custodian at Lilburn ES receives recognition from local radio station

Karen Mulzac Watkins Vice Chair, District I | Gwinnett County Public Schools

Elizabeth Barreto Baquero, a custodian at Lilburn Elementary School, has been honored with KISS 104.1 FM’s “Outstanding School Employee Award.” Baquero was nominated by Lasandra Cobb, a fourth-grade teacher at the school. Cobb praised her as a “kind, thoughtful, and loving person who cares about the safety of the school and students.”

Baquero has been part of Lilburn Elementary for five years. Her colleagues commend her for building intergenerational relationships with students through sharing wisdom and fostering growth mindsets. She is also recognized for maintaining a clean environment conducive to learning and development.

Lilburn Elementary Principal Mike Bender highlighted Baquero's contributions by stating, “Her dedication and unconditional support are the epitome of the motto ‘Together, we can make a difference.’”
