Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) Parent Mentors are organizing a presentation for parents of students receiving special education services. The event, titled "Behavior Strategies to Support Your Child," is scheduled for Tuesday, December 5. It aims to provide parents with strategies that can be used at home to ensure consistent behavior interventions across both home and school settings.

The presentation will be led by GCPS Behavior Specialists Katherine Eisner and Jessica Philips. They will discuss identifying behaviors perceived as problematic, the four primary functions of behavior, and offer tips and techniques for addressing these behaviors.

Parents have the option to attend either an in-person session from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the J. Alvin Wilbanks Instructional Support Center in Suwanee, Georgia, or a virtual session via Zoom from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

For those interested in attending the morning session in person, registration is required through a provided link. Similarly, registration is necessary for the evening Zoom session, after which participants will receive a confirmation email with meeting details.

Any questions regarding the event can be directed to Dawn Albanese at dawn.albanese@gcpsk12.org or by calling (678)301-7212. Interpretation services are available upon request if made at least one week before the meeting date, with Spanish interpretation already secured.
