Gwinnett County schools earn 13 GSPRA awards for communications excellence

Gwinnett County Public Schools' (GCPS) Communications and Media Relations and GCPS TV teams have been recognized with several awards at the Georgia School Public Relations Association (GSPRA) Annual Conference. These awards highlight excellence in various communication fields, including writing, photography, videography/electronic media, and image/identity package design for the 2022-23 school year. In total, GCPS received 13 awards, among them three "best in state" honors.

The school district was also awarded seven Gold Awards, three Silver Awards, and one Bronze Award. Melissa Laramie, GCPS's Chief Engagement Officer, commented on the recognition: “I am exceptionally proud of our Engagement Office team for their outstanding achievements and for winning multiple Georgia School Public Relations Association awards,” she stated. “The team’s dedication to fostering two-way, meaningful communication and engagement reflects their professional excellence and unwavering commitment to building strong connections within our community. These awards celebrate the impactful work that propels us forward together as a district in building the bridge from empathy to excellence.”

Gold Awards:

- Videography/Electronic Media: “Teaching Gwinnett Podcast: School Social Workers: The First Responders of GCPS”

Silver Awards:

- Excellence in Writing: "Maxwell High School of Technology’s manufacturing students were invited to NASA to present design prototype"

- Photography: "A Return to Learning and Joy"

- Photography: "Certified EPIC"

Bronze Award:

- Special Event: "Café Con La Familia" (Coffee with the Family)
