Five seniors from Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) have been named semifinalists in the 2023-2024 Coca-Cola Scholars Program. These students are among 1,514 semifinalists selected from over 103,800 applicants. They were chosen for their leadership skills, academic performance, and community involvement. Out of these semifinalists, 150 will receive a $20,000 Coca-Cola Scholarship.

The GCPS semifinalists include Noah Turura from Grayson High School, Sohum Trivedi from Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science, and Technology, Helen Ejigu from Mountain View High School, Muhammad Rizwan from Seckinger High School, and Afomia Giday from South Gwinnett High School.

The Coca-Cola Scholars Program is recognized as the largest corporate-sponsored scholarship program in the United States. With the new class of 2024 scholars, the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation will have awarded scholarships to over 6,900 students nationwide totaling more than $84 million over its 36-year history.

Semifinalists are now required to submit Phase Two applications that include essays, a recommendation letter, and a transcript. An independent selection committee will evaluate these applications to select 250 Regional Finalists by early January for online interviews. Winners will be announced in late February. In addition to receiving the scholarship, winners will attend the Coca-Cola Scholars Weekend in Atlanta from April 25-28, 2024. During this event, they will be honored at the annual Coca-Cola Scholars Banquet and participate in a Leadership Development Institute led by program alumni.
