On October 16, Bus Driver Appreciation Day was observed to honor the dedication of GCPS bus drivers and monitors. This event coincides with National School Bus Safety Week, which runs from October 16 to October 20. The day serves as a tribute to those who ensure the safe transportation of students to and from school.

GCPS employs around 1,600 bus drivers and 180 bus monitors. These professionals are responsible for transporting approximately 128,000 students daily. Their role is crucial in supporting students' educational journeys by ensuring they arrive safely and on time.

Local schools and transportation supervisors take this opportunity to recognize the commitment of these individuals. They acknowledge that bus drivers and monitors play an essential part in providing a safe environment for students during their daily commutes.

Bus Driver Appreciation Day highlights the exceptional contributions made by these professionals in maintaining student safety.
