Gwinnett County Public Schools has announced Priya Shah from Norcross High School as the recipient of the 2024-25 Media Clerk of the Year award. This accolade is given to a media clerk who demonstrates outstanding leadership and effort, contributing significantly to the success of their school library program.

Shah plays an important role in promoting reading and learning within the Norcross community. She encourages students and staff, including clerical and custodial members, to participate in school-wide reading initiatives. Her recent relocation of the World Language collection to the library entrance has notably increased its circulation. Shah also contributes by serving on committees, presenting at district-wide professional development meetings, and mentoring new clerks.

Beyond her daily duties, Shah works closely with library media specialists and assists teachers with instructional needs. She collaborates with the local technology team to resolve technical issues and participates actively in school events.

Lauren Salgado and Lorraine McCullough, library media specialists at Norcross High, nominated Shah for this honor. “Priya creates an inviting and welcoming space in the library while promoting teaching and learning,” says Salgado. McCullough adds that Shah supports instructional programs essential to their media center by planning tasks that aid librarians' roles.

Shah expressed her gratitude for being recognized: “I am honored to be recognized for my contributions. It is a joy to work with such a supportive and enthusiastic school community. Together, we have created a library program that supports academic and personal growth for students and staff.”
