The Gwinnett Chamber recently organized a visit for 18 business professionals to engage with lawmakers and statewide leaders at the Capitol. This event, known as Gwinnett Chamber Day at the Capitol, was sponsored by Jackson EMC and took place on Legislative Day 7 of the session. During this day, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Michael P. Boggs delivered the State of the Judiciary address to a joint session.
Governor Brian Kemp, Lt. Governor Burt Jones, and Speaker Jon Burns have identified improving the state's legal climate as a top legislative priority this year. The Gwinnett Chamber delegation held discussions with Brad Bohannon, Governor Kemp’s Deputy Chief of Staff, and Insurance and Fire Safety Commissioner John King. These talks focused on challenges faced by businesses due to rising insurance costs and risks. Both officials expressed their commitment to collaborating with stakeholders to find solutions.
The program concluded with lunch attended by members of the Gwinnett legislative delegation, offering an opportunity for building stronger relationships with lawmakers. State Representative Matt Reeves and State Senator Shawn Still sponsored HR 58 and SR 48 respectively, which officially recognized January 28 as Gwinnett Chamber Day at the Capitol.
