Two educators from Gwinnett County Public Schools have been honored with the 2025 Don Cargill STEM Scholars award. Michelle Morgan of Hull Middle School and Abby Paul of Berkmar Middle School were recognized for their innovative approach to STEM education. This award, backed by the Georgia Youth Science and Technology Centers, celebrates excellence in integrating science, technology, engineering, and mathematics into classroom instruction.

Morgan expressed her gratitude for the acknowledgment: “This recognition means a great deal to me as it validates the passion and dedication I have for STEM education.” She emphasized her commitment to engaging students with hands-on learning experiences that prepare them for future opportunities in STEM fields.

Paul also shared her thoughts on receiving the award: “I am honored to be a part of the Don Cargill legacy that recognizes teaching innovation, leadership, and passion in STEM fields.” She takes pride in helping her students tackle real-world problems and contribute positively to their community.

Both teachers are among 25 educators across Georgia to receive this distinction. They are notably the only recipients from Gwinnett County. As part of their recognition, they each received $500 to support classroom projects. The honorees were celebrated at a reception held at the State Capitol with members of the Georgia Assembly.

Paul noted how working within GCPS has allowed her to enhance skills essential for student success: "Working with GCPS has provided me with endless opportunities to refine my leadership, collaboration, and problem-solving skills."

Morgan highlighted her dedication to making STEM accessible: “What fuels my work is the excitement and growth I see in my students when they make connections between what they learn in the classroom and the real world.”

The recognition underscores both teachers' contributions toward fostering an engaging educational environment that inspires curiosity and critical thinking among students.
