Seventeen students from Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) have advanced to the Georgia Association of Educators Regional 3 Spelling Bee. The event is scheduled for Saturday, February 22, at 10 a.m. and will be held at the Barrow County School System District Office in Winder, Georgia. These students earned their spots by competing in the GCPS Spelling Bee earlier this month. Successful participants in the regional competition will progress to the state-level spelling bee, moving closer to the Scripps National Spelling Bee.

In preparation for these events, students from 60 GCPS schools in grades 3-8 participated in school-level spelling competitions last fall. Each school winner then took part in a virtual spelling and vocabulary competition, which narrowed down the competitors to 20 who participated at the county level.
