Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) is encouraging community involvement in the upcoming Relay For Life event to support the American Cancer Society. Team GCPS has been a dedicated supporter of this cause, and they are inviting others to join their efforts in combating cancer, celebrating survivors, and assisting those currently affected by the disease.
The Relay For Life of Gwinnett is scheduled for April 26th, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Suwanee Town Center. The event is free and open to families. It will feature a Survivor Celebration from 4:00-6:00 PM, along with activities for children in the Gold Zone, food trucks, live entertainment, and more.
Participants can get involved by joining Team GCPS to help raise funds and volunteer or by making donations. Donations play a crucial role in providing services such as cancer research funding and support programs like Hope Lodge and Road to Recovery. A $10 donation could help people find hope through the Cancer Survivors Network online; $50 can provide transportation for treatment; $100 may advance research through grants.
Additionally, attendees can honor loved ones by purchasing luminarias for $10 each or tribute signs for $100. These will be part of a special ceremony at sundown and displayed in the Tribute Garden.
Last year, Team GCPS raised over $317,000. This year’s goal is set at $375,000. Each contribution aids cancer patients, funds research initiatives, and supports community outreach programs.
Involvement also offers students opportunities for volunteer service hours and leadership development. High school students have the chance to earn Relay For Life Graduation Cords as recognition for their contributions.
Those interested in participating or donating can visit RelayForLife.org/GwinnettGA or contact their school’s Relay Captain for more information.
"Let's unite for a common cause and continue to show the strength of Team GCPS in this incredible community effort!"
