Partee Elementary School's DeAnna Espinoza has been named the Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) 2024-25 Library Media Specialist of the Year. This annual award recognizes a K-12 library media specialist whose program excels in collaborative partnerships, research skills development, technology integration, and reading promotion.

Principal Jennifer Clowers of Partee Elementary praised Espinoza's work, stating, "Her resolute dedication, innovative initiatives, and collaborative spirit have transformed our library media center into a dynamic hub that fosters creativity, literacy, and student success."

Espinoza's approach as a library media specialist focuses on making the library a communal space for sharing thoughts and exploring new ideas. She emphasizes that "new information isn’t always discovered in books or online. So many times, it is found through experiences."

Her commitment to supporting students, staff, and the community in using ideas and information effectively is evident in her vision of students as enthusiastic readers and critical thinkers. Her Just Read program boasts a 95% participation rate among teachers and has inspired a love for reading among students.

Espinoza will compete for the Metro Atlanta Library Media Specialist of the Year award later this spring. This competition is sponsored by the Georgia Library Media Association.
