Sugar Hill Elementary student wins state cybersecurity poster contest

A student from Gwinnett County Public Schools has been recognized for her efforts in promoting online safety. Anaisha Taran, a third grader at Sugar Hill Elementary School, won the state-level 2024-2025 Georgia Leaders of Educational Technology (GLET) Cybersecurity Poster Contest in the Elementary School category.

"We are so proud of Anaisha! She understands the importance of keeping herself safe online and is committed to helping her peers understand how to keep themselves safe online through her artwork,” said Jessica Rogers, Assistant Principal at Sugar Hill Elementary. “Anaisha is an excellent student, and we are thrilled that she has this opportunity to represent our school and advocate for something she feels strongly about."

The contest theme was "Secure Our Schools," emphasizing cybersecurity and online safety. Students were encouraged to demonstrate their creativity and understanding of cybersecurity through their participation.

Anaisha received recognition on the Georgia Department of Education website and was honored at the Gwinnett County Board of Education’s February Board Meeting. She expressed her enthusiasm for cybersecurity as a vital tool for ensuring online safety.

"I feel really proud because I worked hard and tried my best," Anaisha shared.
