The Braselton Cancer Center opened on the campus of the Northeast Georgia Medical Center as a one-stop destination for cancer care for area residents.

The center is located inside Medical Plaza 1 at 1400 River Place in Braselton. In addition to a larger space, it features its own entrance and parking specifically for patients.

“From the convenience of a dedicated entrance to the close proximity of services and providers, everything has been designed with patient comfort and healing in mind," Kevin Matson, vice president of Cancer Services at Northeast Georgia Health System, said in a news release from the Gwinnett Chamber.

As the population near the Braselton clinic continues to expand, it was important to offer more space for patients and providers alike, Mimi Collins, Longstreet Clinic’s CEO, told the Gwinnett Chamber.

Dr. Charles Nash III, medical director of NGMC’s Cancer Services and medical oncologist with Longstreet Clinic, said that the space puts patients’ needs at the forefront by “providing a more cohesive environment with access to both medical oncology/hematology and radiation oncology services within steps of each other,” the chamber reported.

The Braselton Cancer Center's opening reduces the travel time patients had to make when Longstreet Clinic’s Medical Oncology and Hematology and Northeast Georgia Physicians Group’s Radiation Oncology were miles apart. The cancer center also enabled Longstreet Clinic to more than doubled its space with a larger waiting area and more exam rooms, the cahmber said.
