Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said he expects to see record turnout for this year’s state election, after upwards of 4 million voters cast ballots in the 2018 state election, according to a recent report by FOX 5 Atlanta.
This comes as the state passed the GOP-led Election Integrity Act, extending early voting one extra Saturday and giving counties the ability to opt-in to as many as two Sundays of early voting, FOX 5 reports.
"We think we'll see record turnout for this state election," Raffensperger told FOX 5 Atlanta.
According to the report, this means there are now 17 required days of advanced voting statewide.
With Oct. 11 marking the first official day of the early voting season, where county officials could mail absentee ballots to voters, Raffensperger asserts that more than 190,000 ballots have already been requested by voters, the report states.
While voters can go online to request an absentee ballot by providing an acceptable form of identification on their application, anyone requesting an absentee ballot must print out the application, sign it and submit it to their county elections office either in person, by mail or electronically, FOX 5 reports.
A valid driver's license or state identification number must be provided, or voters may attach a photocopy of another acceptable form of identification to their application.
