Laurie McLain, Treasurer for the Georgia GOP and first vice chair for the Gwinnett County GOP, said Biden's economic policies have damaged the American economy for years into the future.
"Inflation is the gift that keeps on giving," McLain told North Gwinnett News. "Once prices go up, it takes a lot of downward pressure to reduce them. Biden has wrecked this economy for years to come."
The cost of chicken in Georgia has increased by more than four dollars per pound since 2020, reported Peach Tree Times on Wednesday.
A pack of chicken pieces — split breasts, drumsticks or thighs — at the supermarket chain cost $2.99 per pound as of May 16, 2024, which is $1.70 more than the $1.29 per pound price tag on May 13, 2020.
That marks a total increase of 132% for chicken breast since 2020, which outpaces the supposed 2.2% inflation rate for food for the last year, as reported by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
The analysis also found that the cost of bread has increased by 121% since 2020, from a cost of 99 cents in May 2020 to $2.19 in May 2024.
The cost of salad dressing has increased by 202%, from 99 cents for a 14-16 oz. container in May 2020 to $2.99 for the same size container in May 2024.
Cortes’ organization released a poll on May 12 that found 68% of Georgia voters blame the Biden Administration for the rising cost of food, with 49% of those voters saying the administration deserves a “great deal” of blame for rising costs.
That poll also found 60% of Georgia voters say “Bidenomics” is not working for most middle-class families in the state, with 44% saying Biden’s economic policies aren’t working “at all.”

The survey released by LAW was conducted among 600 likely Georgia voters on May 1-5, 2024 by North Star Public Opinion Research.
McLain is a long time resident of Gwinnett County, having run her small business in the area since 1996. She attended Parkview High School.
Her career includes experience in accounting, teaching finance at the collegiate level, and serving in several local committees and boards in Gwinnett county. She was appointed to be the Georgia GOP Treasurer in 2023.
