State Representative Farooq Mughal of Dacula recently welcomed Farooq Mitha, the Director of the Department of Defense (DoD) Office of Small Business Programs, to Atlanta. Mitha's role involves assisting small businesses in collaborating with the DoD.
"I extend my thanks to Farooq Mitha, Director of the Department of Defense Office of Small Business Programs, for his invaluable expertise in promoting fair competition for state contracts," expressed Rep. Mughal. He emphasized the importance of ensuring equal opportunities for all businesses, particularly in relation to state contracts for Georgia's veterans and active-duty service members.
During their meeting, the two discussed the impact of House Bill 128, which Governor Brian Kemp signed into law in April 2023. This legislation established a certified contractor program in Georgia to support minority women and veteran businesses in securing state contracts, with categories for both small and non-small businesses.
Reflecting on the meeting, Rep. Mughal stated, "It was a pleasure to meet with Director Mitha. I look forward to our continued partnership." The collaboration between Rep. Mughal and Director Mitha aims to further enhance opportunities for small businesses, particularly those linked to military industrial output and the support of service members.
