Gwinnett County Public Schools' (GCPS) teacher induction program has been recognized as one of the best in Georgia by the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE). Following a detailed review, the GaDOE rated GCPS's Certified Teacher Induction Program at an "optimized" level. This rating signifies that the program excels in all components and fully incorporates best practices.
The GaDOE describes a high-quality induction program as comprehensive, coherent, and sustainable, supporting retention and growth for induction phase leaders, teachers, and their mentors. The aim is to enhance student learning through effective teacher support.
"This prestigious rating reflects our commitment to providing exceptional support and development for our new teachers," said GCPS Chief Human Resources Officer Cathy Hardin. "At GCPS, we prioritize the growth and success of our educators, recognizing that their achievements directly impact our students’ learning experiences. The ‘Optimized Level’ rating validates our comprehensive approach to teacher induction, which includes robust mentoring, ongoing professional development, and a strong support network. We are proud of our staff’s dedication and hard work in creating an environment where new teachers can thrive. This recognition motivates us to continue striving for excellence in all aspects of our educational programs."
In acknowledgment of its achievements, GCPS will receive a GaDOE digital certification seal representing high-quality support for new teachers. Additionally, the GaDOE has invited GCPS to mentor other districts seeking certification or serving as part of the state's Certified Teacher Induction Program review team.
