Hiring practices have a significant impact on a company's brand reputation, according to Aysha Abdullatif, vice president of marketing and franchisee at Spherion Atlanta Northeast. Abdullatif emphasizes the importance of connecting employers with suitable candidates to ensure a positive experience for all parties involved. "A well-executed hiring process builds strong relationships and enhances an organization’s image," she states. However, she warns that "a poor approach can have lasting negative effects."

Spherion, headquartered in Atlanta and backed by Randstad, is a staffing and recruitment firm that operates with a local-first strategy. Each location is independently owned and operated, allowing offices like Spherion Atlanta Northeast to focus specifically on the local market. Abdullatif's team analyzes local compensation trends, cost-of-living factors, and market needs to provide clients with relevant advice. She notes the variations in salaries across different regions: “What someone makes in Fargo versus Seattle or Suwanee varies greatly."

In Gwinnett County and surrounding areas, Abdullatif's team recruits for various sectors including supply chain, manufacturing, finance, human resources, and IT. They offer direct-hire placements as well as temporary positions and temp-to-hire solutions—what she calls “temp to retire”—to build lasting relationships.

The success of Spherion lies in its personalized approach that goes beyond simply matching resumes with job descriptions. "We come in and want to thoroughly understand your needs so we can find the right fit for you," Abdullatif explains. Her team also focuses on understanding each candidate through behavioral interviewing to create detailed profiles.

Abdullatif highlights the significance of new employees' first days at work: “You never forget your first day at a new job." Her team often arranges breakfasts or lunches for new hires to ensure their onboarding experience is smooth.

Having returned to her native Gwinnett County after working across major U.S. metro areas, Abdullatif saw an opportunity to open a Spherion franchise alongside her husband due to the region's growth and demand for skilled talent.

Her commitment extends beyond staffing; she actively participates in local economic development through involvement with the Gwinnett Chamber. She assists minority-owned businesses in obtaining certifications necessary for government contracts.

As Gwinnett's business community expands further, Abdullatif advises employers on maintaining brand reputation by communicating promptly during hiring processes: "No matter how busy you are," she urges companies not only protect but also enhance their reputations through timely follow-ups after interviews.

For Abdullatif personally—and professionally—the goal isn't merely about filling vacancies but rather fostering connections between companies while empowering individuals within broader business communities alike.
