The Bobcat shop in Norcross experienced an unpleasant holiday after thieves stole a hefty amount of heavy equipment on Christmas Day.

The thieves stole approximately $210,000 worth of equipment from the dealership, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.

"That point proceeded to steal about 13 pieces of equipment," branch manager Jason Annett told Fox 5 Atlanta. "They stole 9 Zero-Turn Mowers, a drum mulcher, two forestry mulchers, an MT100, a UV34, and three trailers."

The burglary took place over two days. On the first, the thieves used bolt cutters to remove the lock to the gate leading into the dealership, Fox 5 Atlanta reported. An alarm sounded, sending the thieves running, but police did not find any evidence of a break-in.

The thieves returned the next day to finish the job, putting the equipment on trailers attached to pickup trucks, Fox 5 Atlanta reported. Surveillance cameras filmed the crime in progress.

"When you're able to make away with as much money as they did in equipment — I guess you gotta say maybe they knew what they were doing," Annett said.

Annett is holding out hope that the equipment will be returned and the perpetrators will be caught, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.

"It doesn't give me a warm feeling," Annett said. "We're stepping up our security and doing everything we can to prevent it from happening again."

Bobcat has information on its website on what to do in response to stolen equipment.

"Please report any stolen equipment to local law enforcement and your local Bobcat dealer," Bobcat said in its FAQ. "Your dealer will be able to assist you. That information is then stored in our serial number database, should the machine be brought into a dealer for service."
