Janine Monroe: Sculpted Paintings at the Art Gallery

15

City of Sugar Hill recently issued the following announcement.

Visit Sugar Hill’s Art Gallery to see Sculpted Paintings by Janine Monroe from March 1 – March 24, with a reception on March 4, 6 – 8 p.m.

The Sugar Hills Arts Commission invites you to view the artwork of Janine Monroe. Her sculpted paintings, formed of sawdust, acrylic paint and other mediums, “give new life to the discarded organic material while evoking a spiritual connection with nature and its and our infinite strength”. The paintings feature figurative elements inspired by Italian Baroque, Post-impressionist, Cubist and Surrealist painters of past eras. Her artwork draws from an art historical narrative as well as her own narrative of ancestry and lineage – of past, present, and future.

The Sugar Hill Art Gallery and History Museum is closed on Mondays and is open Tuesday – Saturday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Sunday noon – 6 p.m. The Art Gallery and History Museum is run mainly by volunteers, to make sure it’s open before you arrive, please call 678-541-6125.

Interested in becoming a member of the Sugar Hill Arts Commission? Meetings are the third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. Attend virtually or in-person at the Art Gallery on West Broad St.
