The Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) Human Resources & Talent Management department has announced a new opportunity for paraprofessionals to advance their education. The PROPEL Project, backed by the U.S. Department of Education, offers paraprofessionals who hold a Bachelor's degree the chance to pursue a Master's of Arts in Teaching (MAT).

Through this initiative, candidates will maintain their salary and benefits as part of their employment with the district. Additionally, they will receive a $5,000 stipend from the PROPEL grant, which can be used for educational expenses or other needs as determined by the candidate. Participants in the P2T residency program will complete an MAT in Special Education and must have work assignments that correspond with their degree focus.

Georgia State University will host information sessions about the PROPEL Project on several dates via Zoom: Thursday, August 29th at 5 PM; Tuesday, September 10th at 10 AM; Wednesday, October 16th at 5 PM; and Thursday, November 14th at 8 AM.
