Paul Duke STEM High School student Mihir Pai has been named the winner of the 2023 Cybersecurity Awareness Poster Contest in the high school category. The contest, sponsored by the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) and the Georgia Leaders of Educational Technology (GLET), was open to all public, private, and homeschooled students across Georgia from kindergarten through 12th grade during Cybersecurity Month in October 2023.

Mihir Pai, an 11th-grade student, created a poster focusing on mobile phone security. In addition to Mihir's achievement, four other winners were recognized in various categories including elementary and middle school as well as state school and home school divisions.

The contest received over 116 submissions from students throughout Georgia. These entries were evaluated by judges from the Consortium for School Networking (CoSN) Georgia Chapter. The criteria for judging included creativity, visual appeal, relevance to the theme, informational content, originality, uniqueness, and overall presentation.

Students in kindergarten through eighth grade addressed topics such as online behavior, privacy on social media, handling unwanted attention online, creating secure passwords, and dealing with cyberbullying. High school students focused on preserving their digital footprint, handling strangers online safely, selecting strong passwords, maintaining updated devices and software, and determining safe texting practices.

Winners received prizes along with an opportunity to meet State School Superintendent Richard Woods.
