Omar Zachery, a bus driver for Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS), has been awarded the Hidden Hero Award by the Rotary Club of Gwinnett. This award is given to a bus driver who exemplifies exceptional service and embodies the Rotary motto of "Service Above Self." Zachery received a plaque and a $500 cash prize at Richards Middle School in front of more than a dozen colleagues.

Carla Hart, GCPS Transportation support manager, expressed that Zachery is deserving of this recognition. “He wants to guide, lead, and be a positive influence on these young people and help people become the best version of themselves that they can be,” Hart stated. “Omar is definitely a Hidden Hero within his community.”

Zachery has been driving buses for GCPS for eight years, consistently demonstrating strong character, integrity, compassion, and kindness. In addition to his role as a bus driver, he has served as a pastor for 15 years and is currently the Senior Pastor at Praise Tabernacle Church in Lawrenceville. He also mentors kids and young men, serves as Chaplain for the Central Gwinnett High School Football team, and coaches youth baseball and basketball.
