Special schools in Gwinnett County prepare for new student registrations

Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) is preparing for the 2025-2026 academic year with registration and informational events for its Special Schools. Each school offers unique learning opportunities, with specific details available on their respective websites.

The Grayson Technical Education Program offers half-day programs focusing on Career Cluster and Pathway experiences. Registration opens on January 10, and an Open House is planned for February 4 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The program targets juniors and seniors interested in hands-on learning.

Gwinnett Online Campus (GOC) continues its K-12 enrollment process. Registration for the next school year begins on May 5 and remains open throughout the summer. Families of students receiving special education services should hold an Individualized Education Program meeting before enrolling at GOC.

At the Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science, and Technology (GSMST), eligible students are admitted through a random lottery. Current eighth graders can start the lottery registration process on November 1, 2024, with the drawing scheduled for January 28, 2025. An Information Night for eighth-grade families will be held on January 9.

Maxwell High School of Technology provides similar half-day programs to Grayson Technical Education Program. Its registration opens on January 10, followed by an Open House event on February 27 from 5 to 7 p.m.

New Life Academy of Excellence will accept online applications during its open enrollment period from December 20, 2024, to January 31, 2025. Applications received after this period will be placed on a waiting list based on seat availability.

Lastly, the School of the Arts at Central Gwinnett High School has closed applications for its Conservatory and Fellows Programs aimed at art-focused students in grades eight through twelve. Availability varies by conservatory cluster requirements.
