Gwin Oaks Elementary School has launched a tribute to former President Jimmy Carter by establishing its own version of the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library. The display, designed by the school's staff, includes memorabilia from Carter's life such as campaign materials, photos, books, art, and video presentations.

The interactive exhibits also offer students a chance to sign a condolence book in memory of President Carter. This initiative aims to honor the Georgia native while providing an educational experience for students.

"Our curriculum introduces students to President Carter and other notable Georgians, such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., but it provides only a brief overview of his life and work," said Gwin Oaks Elementary Principal Dr. Craig Barlow. "Most of our students are eager to learn more about President Carter, but many don’t have the chance to visit the Carter Center. This tribute is our way of reinforcing his legacy and his ongoing impact on our state and nation."

Dr. Barlow hopes that this tribute will inspire students and their families to explore further into Carter’s contributions. "We want to encourage them to take the opportunity to visit the Carter Center and learn more about his work," he stated. "Jimmy Carter is the only president from Georgia, and we wanted to highlight his remarkable life and lasting achievements. By bringing a piece of history into the school, we’ve created a meaningful opportunity for students to connect with and reflect on the former president’s enduring influence."
