Inspired by a desire to promote safe driving among his peers, Tyson England, an 11th-grade student at Lanier High School, created a Public Service Announcement (PSA) focused on discouraging teens from using devices while driving. England's PSA, titled "Gameday," was entered into the Georgia PSA Heads Up Contest and achieved second place out of 200 entries.

In recognition of his work, England received an invitation to attend the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) Class Championships and was given a V.I.P. tour of Mercedes Benz Stadium. His PSA was also broadcast on Georgia Public Broadcasting during the GHSA 2A and 5A Championship games, where he participated in an interview about his project.

Reflecting on the experience, Tyson expressed gratitude for participating in the competition. "I am very grateful I was able to participate in the Heads Up Georgia video competition. Being able to produce this video and have it shared with the community has been invaluable to me knowing its message may help save lives in the future," he stated.

Tyson acknowledged support from his film teacher, Mr. Keith Phillips, saying that his class enabled him to explore filming opportunities while enhancing his skills in both filming and editing. He also credited his friend Austin Meyers for helping complete the video and expressed excitement about entering more competitions in the future.

After graduating from Lanier High School, Tyson plans to play Lacrosse at Savannah College of Art and Design while pursuing a degree in film with a focus on 3D Animation/Visual Effects.

Further information about Audio/Visual and Film opportunities can be found through the district’s CTAE pathways.
