Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) high school art students have been recognized with 119 awards in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards program by the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers. The awards cover 28 categories, including painting, novel writing, mixed media, poetry, digital art, and journalism. GCPS students received 61 Gold Key Awards and 58 Silver Key Awards.

David DuBose, GCPS Director of Fine Arts, expressed pride in the accomplishments of both students and teachers. "Our educators’ dedication shines through in our students’ achievements," DuBose stated. "These accolades highlight the unwavering commitment of our teachers and schools to deliver top-tier visual arts education to every student."

The selection process for these awards is conducted without knowledge of a student's gender, age, ethnicity, or hometown. Initially judged locally by over 100 affiliates of the Alliance and then nationally by panels consisting of artists, authors, educators, and industry experts, jurors seek works that demonstrate originality, skill, and personal voice or vision.

The Alliance for Young Artists and Writers is a nonprofit organization dedicated to identifying exceptional artistic and literary talent among students. The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards offer opportunities for recognition through exhibition, publication, and scholarships. Since its inception in 1923, the program has supported millions of students' creativity and talent.
