Gwinnett County Public Schools students have been recognized for their artistic talents at the Atlanta High School Art Exhibition (AHSAE), part of the 88th annual Atlanta Dogwood Festival. The event celebrates visual artistry and provides young artists from the Atlanta metro area with opportunities for real-world experience, scholarships, and art supplies.
This year, more than 80 schools submitted hundreds of entries. GCPS students stood out in the competition. "Our students’ creativity and talent never cease to amaze," stated David DuBose, GCPS Director of Fine Arts. He added that the festival offers an essential platform for young artists to display their work and receive recognition. This aligns with GCPS's mission to promote artistic excellence across its district.
Several students from Gwinnett County achieved notable placements:
- Eileen Lipan from Brookwood High School secured second place with her oil painting titled "Apricity."
- Kylie Boyd from Discovery High School earned third place and received the J.L. Brooks Art Achievement Award from the Georgia Watercolor Society for her drawing "Waiting for Service."
- Shayda Torab from Brookwood High School took tenth place with her drawing "Flowers at my Feet."
Honorable mentions were awarded to:
