A student from Gwinnett County Public Schools has been selected as a winner in the 2025 Disney Dreamers Academy Essay Contest. Kylan Robinson, who attends Berkmar High School, will participate in the academy held at Walt Disney World in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, from March 26-30. Robinson joins 99 other winners for a weekend focused on educational development, guest speakers, networking, and hands-on learning.

Robinson expressed his excitement about the recognition: “It feels amazing to be recognized for who I am and what I want to accomplish. A lot of times, students get looked at as just a number or part of a statistic, but this selection makes me feel seen.” He also noted the significance of being the first student from Berkmar High to be chosen and hopes it will inspire others at his school to pursue similar opportunities.

Each spring, Disney Dreamers Academy selects 100 high school students aged 13 to 19 for workshops aimed at broadening their horizons. Winners receive complimentary airfare and hotel accommodations for themselves and a guardian. The program seeks young leaders with qualities such as intellectual curiosity, compassion, courage, and optimism.

Berkmar High Principal Durrant Williams praised Robinson: “Kylan is an exceptionally motivated young man with the potential to make a significant impact on the world. His intelligence and drive are evident in everything he undertakes, and he consistently demonstrates a commitment to excellence.” Williams added that the faculty and staff are proud of Robinson's accomplishment and confident that he will benefit greatly from this opportunity.
