The Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) has unveiled its budget for the fiscal year 2025-26, focusing on student success, teacher excellence, and safe learning environments. The budget aims to provide students with necessary resources, strengthen neighborhoods, and support local businesses by preparing students for future employment.

GCPS is investing in Career, Technical & Agricultural Education (CTAE) to ensure students are ready for the workforce or further education. School safety improvements include additional school resource officers, security cameras, visitor check-in systems, emergency response badges, and behavioral support for students.

The budget also allocates funds for school building projects supported by E-SPLOST. These projects involve upgrading heating and cooling systems, replacing roofs, renovating classrooms, and enhancing facilities with new paint and carpet. Technology and cybersecurity improvements are also planned to benefit students, families, and staff.

"By investing in education today," the release states, "we ensure a better future for our entire community." It emphasizes that a strong educational system supports economic growth and enhances quality of life.

Specific investments outlined in the FY2026 budget include upgraded security systems and emergency response measures. Additional school resource officers will be assigned to elementary schools. There is increased funding for safety detection systems at middle and high schools as well as crisis prevention training for staff. Student behavior management systems will receive more support alongside increased funding for school maintenance.

Learning opportunities will be enhanced through expanded special education resources and additional literacy specialists. Funding will increase for college and career exploration activities in middle and high schools.

To attract top educators, competitive salary increases are planned along with more professional development opportunities. Facility improvements include renovated classrooms and new playgrounds. A new middle school is set to open in the Archer Cluster.

"We are committed to ensuring every student has the resources they need to succeed!" says GCPS. The district carefully plans its annual budget with input from public meetings where parents, teachers, and community members can participate.
