South Gwinnett High School has been named one of four finalists in The Home Depot National Case Competition, placing in the Top 10 nationwide. The school's 3DE student team will compete against two teams from Florida and another from Georgia on Wednesday, March 5, at 12 p.m. The event will be accessible via Zoom.

The competition is designed to challenge students by having them apply real-world problem-solving skills, which is a primary focus of the 3DE instructional model. This model aims to empower students through experiential learning and business case studies. During the competition, students engage in design thinking to tackle a challenge presented by The Home Depot. They conduct thorough research into the needs of DIYers, develop prototypes, and test their innovative solutions. Their work culminates in a presentation lasting three to five minutes where they showcase their findings and proposed solutions to representatives from The Home Depot.

The recognition of South Gwinnett High as a finalist highlights the effectiveness of the 3DE model in preparing students with essential skills for thriving in a competitive world. "Their efforts will culminate in a 3-5-minute presentation," reflecting their dedication to excellence and innovation within Gwinnett County Public Schools.
