All Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) locations will be closed on Wednesday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth. This decision aligns with the federal recognition of Juneteenth as a holiday.

In 2021, President Biden signed legislation making Juneteenth a federal holiday, describing it as "one of the greatest honors he would have as president."

In response to this national acknowledgment, GCPS has adopted Juneteenth as an official district holiday. Consequently, all schools and offices within the district will be closed. Additionally, all-district activities, including Summer Learning programs, will be canceled for the day.
