The Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) recently held its annual Transition Fair, an event organized by the Department of Special Education and Psychological Services. The fair attracted over 800 students and families, providing a platform to connect families of students with disabilities to essential resources for employment, engagement, and productivity.

The department dedicated more than 100 hours to preparing for the event. It collaborated with various organizations and service providers who focus on supporting children and young adults with disabilities. The Transition Fair aimed to increase awareness among families about funding structures and governmental programs available in the community.

Special Education Coordinator Tamra King shared insights from the event, stating, "Many families commented that they didn’t know that there were so many options for their child with a disability. There were lots of gracious hugs, laughs and smiles, as well as tears of joy for families who finally found solutions for their child’s future. For me, each and every family deserves to know that there is a future full of possibilities for their child, regardless of ability or disability. Connecting families to resources renews their hope for a brighter tomorrow, where their child can be a full participant in the Gwinnett community."
