Gwinnett County Public Schools' Junior Achievement Discovery Center has been recognized as a finalist in the International Data Corporation (IDC) Government Insights' Smart Cities of North America Awards. The center is competing against entries from Cal Poly Pomona and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in the Education category, which includes Smart Campus, Smart Classrooms, Virtual Offerings, Online and Remote Services.
The awards aim to recognize municipalities in North America for their progress in executing Smart Cities projects. They also provide a platform for sharing best practices to accelerate Smart City development in the region. According to IDC, "SCNAA finalists, which include cities, states, counties, and universities, illustrate best practice examples of how forward-thinking municipalities and regional governments are effectively leveraging technology and innovation to offer new services and economic opportunities and to meet the needs and expectations of residents, visitors, and businesses."
The public can participate in the voting process for these awards by visiting https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SCNAA24. Voting is open until Friday, March 8. The winners will be announced on March 27 and honored at the Smart Cities Connect event from May 7-10 in Raleigh, N.C.
