Gwinnett BOE appoints new chief of staff and financial director

Steven B. Knudsen Chair, District II | Gwinnett County Public Schools

The Gwinnett County Board of Education has approved the appointment of two key positions during its business meeting on December 14, 2023. Jorge E. Gomez has been appointed as the new Chief of Staff for the Superintendent's office. Gomez is currently serving as Special Assistant to the Superintendent in the same office.

Gomez's professional history includes roles such as Executive Director for Administration and Policy from 2006 to 2022, and Assistant Principal at Radloff Middle School from 2004 to 2006. He began his career in education as Instructional Staff at Pines Middle School in Pembroke Pines, FL, from 1991 to 1996. His academic background includes a Bachelor's degree in Science, a Master's degree in Education, and a Specialist degree in Education, all from the University of Florida.

Nicholas Moore has been named the new Executive Director of Financial Reporting and Treasury Services-Budgets within the Division of Business and Finance. Moore previously worked as Senior Supervising Auditor for the State of Idaho Legislative Office.

Moore's employment history includes positions such as Senior Financial Consultant for Georgia School Districts since 2016 and Financial Audit Manager at Georgia Department of Audits and Accounts from 2004 to 2015. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Berry College and a Master's degree in Accounting from Keller Graduate School of Management.

Both appointments reflect the board's commitment to strengthening leadership within its administrative framework.
